Prudhoe Community choir

The choir meets on Wednesday evenings between 7.45pm and 9.45pm at Stocksfield Baptist Church.

We sing a variety of light music for mixed male and female voices in three and four part harmony under the direction of Paul Davies, our conductor and Humphrey Graham, our piano accompanist. This includes songs from West-End shows and other popular vocal arrangements. We usually perform two concerts each year and are sometimes invited to sing at local functions and events.

You don't need to audition, just come along and join in! Subscriptions are £15, payable 4 times per year. The first term is free to new members.

For more information contact Amy Furniss (Chairperson) 0191 4135090 or Catherine Edge (Secretary) 01661 835738.

Stocksfield Retired Men's Association

The Stocksfield Retired Men's Association is a non-political and non-denominational group which aims to foster and develop new and existing friendships amongst the retired men of Stocksfield and surrounding areas. There are currently around 90 members.

Meetings are held in the Baptist Church Hall on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month, except August. On these occasions a speaker is arranged to talk on a subject which might reasonably interest the group and we try to encompass a wide range of topics. Members assemble for coffee from 9.30am and the meetings start promptly at 10.30am and finish by 12.00 noon. The Annual General Meeting is held in December, at which a Committee is appointed to run the Association, and this is normally followed by a Carol Service and a Christmas Lunch.

In addition to the Thursday morning meetings, we also have an annual full day outing to a place of general interest and ladies are invited to join us on this occasion. Other shorter outings to places of special interest, e.g. local industrial and commercial concerns, are also organised.

There is no annual subscription but members pay a nominal fee (currently £1) at each meeting they attend to cover expenses.

To join, contact the Secretary, Ian Newton, on (01661) 843898 or just come along to one of the meetings. You will be very welcome.
