Bassenfell
Each year in November the church has a church weekend away. For several years this has been at Bassenfell Christian Centre in the Lake District. This is primarily a social weekend to strengthen friendships within the church: a chance to relax and unwind before the Christmas rush; chat and chill in the coffee bar, join the table tennis competition, enjoy a walk in the Lakes; potter around the shops, museums pubs and tearooms of Keswick or Cockermouth!
Saturday night is family entertainment (past years have included Bake Off, The Apprentice, Murder Mystery, Quizzes etc.).
There are also short talks and a Sunday gathering drawing biblical truths from such diverse themes as Shakespeare, Advent, Doctor Who and Lost.
All activities are optional and family members who would not consider themselves to be Christians are especially welcome and made to feel at home.
Church Camping Trip
Each year, a number of us go for our annual camping trip to Highburn House Country Holiday Park at Wooler.
You just need to bring your own tent and food for the weekend - we all pitch on the top field on the Friday afternoon/evening. On the Saturday evening we tend to all eat together, using individual BBQs or some people get takeaway from Wooler and bring it back to the site.
On the whole, it's just a chance to relax together, and people can do their own thing or we often do a walk on the Saturday, depending on the weather
